Winter’s Deep

Winter is the bottom of a lake

A depth, cold and dark

Where you hang, suspended, still

The summertime laughs in a dazzle of light

Far above your head.

Look down, away

For the sight of Elysium

The hint of Eden

Is foreign to you now

And summer’s blush

Offends your murky eyes.
