Mermaid Seas

I never swam

Through mermaid seas

Invented by poet laureates

I found friends

In books uncharted

By well-appointed critics

I don’t like summits

Or sweaty rooms

Crammed with suits

And vicious dreams

I hope I’m remembered

The way I am today

Driving alone

With the windows down

Singing like a bird

To music my professors

Don’t like.
